C# Phrygian

The C# Phrygian mode (also written Db) — C# D E F# G# A B — shown across the guitar neck.

Also written Db Phrygian. Db and C# are the same pitch, though spelling it from Db would need double accidentals (Db Ebb Fb Gb Ab Bbb Cb), which is why C# is the name in use.

C# Phrygian is the natural minor with one note changed — the b2, D. That single note is what the mode sounds like; lean on it and the colour is obvious, avoid it and you are just playing minor.
